ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation targets increased SAF usage
Sustainabile Aviation Fuels have gained considerable momentum in the aviation industry in recent times, due to their potential as a drop-in replacement for conventional fossil aviation fuels. Interest is also supported by the lack of sustainable alternatives with hydrogen or electric powered aircraft deemed unfeasbile and not financially viable in the short term. The European Union have underlined their focus on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) through the Green Deal and underpinned this with clear numbers and mandates in the ReFuelEU Aviation draft regulations. What, though, exactly does the draft regulation mean and what impact could it have on the SAF market in the coming years? Find out more here.

Sustainable energy: The ORC process for electricity & heat production
In the course of the energy turnaround, geothermal energy generation is becoming an increasingly important topic alongside electricity generation from solar, wind and hydro power. Generating sustainable electricity is more topical and urgent than ever. Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) plants play an important role, because they open up ways of generating electricity and heat that were not possible in the past. Find out here what advantages and future opportunities the process offers.

SAF: Which feedstocks can be used for SAF sustainable aviation fuels?
Without Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), a short-term reduction of CO2 emissions in aviation is not feasible. The European Green Deal and the subsequent Fit for 55 package therefore focuses on the increased use of biofuels in aviation. In the framework of these packages, the raw materials used in production are generally classified under the term ‘generations’ But what precisely is the meaning behind this classification? Find out more about the different feedstocks and future trends.

High-purity paraffinic hydrocarbons tested for paints & adhesives
High-quality solvents are important basic raw materials for the paint, coatings and adhesives industry. Only highest quality guarantees the best functionality in end-use applications. After all, automotive coatings, sealants and building adhesives or building paints should be characterised by a long service life and few impurities. Haltermann Carless focuses on the market requirements of its long-standing customers and has relied on extensive quality assurance for its high-purity paraffinic hydrocarbons for generations. Find out more about how this is achieved.

Sustainability: Geothermal energy - how viable is it for the future?
Today, renewable energy options determine the worldwide political, public and economic discussions about more sustainability in energy production. In addition to wind, water and solar energy, the topic of geothermal power is increasingly becoming the focus of attention. What precisely is geothermal energy and what are the options for the future? Here you can find out more about extraction, processes and worldwide use.

Paraffinic hydrocarbons for paints & coatings: a sustainable future
The paint and coatings industry is far more sustainable than one might think - and not only since the European Green Deal. The industry has long been working to meet the high demands placed on modern paints and coatings: Environmentally friendly, durable, harmless, easy to handle. In addition to occupational safety and processing, the right raw materials play a decisive role. Paraffinic hydrocarbons are part of the solution when it comes to sustainability. Learn more here.

Pentane Study: Tenary blends offer benefits to PU and PIR industry
Pentane blowing agents are widely used in the insulation industry. Since the performance and properties of Polyurethane (PU) and Polyisocyanurate (PIR) foams can vary considerably - depending on the isomer used - Haltermann Carless has conducted a study to take a closer look at the behaviour of blends consisting of the three isomers n-Pentane, iso-Pentane and Cyclopentane. The results of these tenary blends look promising and might offer additional benefits to the insulation industry.
