Haltermann Carless: Ceremonial inauguration of hydrogenation unit

Haltermann Carless celebrated the inauguration of its hydrogenation unit at the Speyer site in Germany with guests from politics, government agencies, chemical association and partners.

Haltermann Carless celebrated the inauguration of its hydrogenation unit at the Speyer site in Germany with Malu Dreyer, Prime Minister Rhineland-Palatinate, and other invited guests. With the commissioning, the chemical company is expanding its position as the world's leading manufacturer of Cyclopentane and preparing the site for new business areas.

Frankfurt a. M., 19.09.2022 - Haltermann Carless, a leading international supplier of solutions for high-value hydrocarbon specialties, inaugurated the hydrogenation unit at the Speyer production site in Germany with an official ribbon cutting ceremony. Around 50 guests from politics, representatives of government agencies and chemical associations, the fire department and neighbouring and partner companies joined the event.

In his opening speech, Henrik Krüpper, CEO of HCS Group, thanked all those involved in the realisation of the project. "The hydrogenation plant is a milestone for our production site in Speyer, and an important contribution to sustainability and innovation," explained Henrik Krüpper and added: "Besides the production of high-purity products, such as those required for pharmaceutical applications, the hydrogenation unit enables the development of new products and the expansion of other innovative business areas, such as the production of sustainable aviation fuels. In this way, we secure our competitiveness on the international market and at the same time contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions with sustainable technology development and continuous investments.”

Investment in the future at the German Speyer site

With the investment in the high double-digit million range, Haltermann Carless is committing itself to both Germany and Europe as a production location and to safeguarding jobs, while at the same time advancing sustainable technologies. In this way, the company is expanding its position as the world's leading manufacturer of Cyclopentane - an important additive for insulating materials, for example for building insulation. In the future, the hydrogenation unit will produce new grades of products, with a high degree of purity, for the pharmaceutical, electronics, printing ink and construction industries.

Haltermann Carless in Speyer

Haltermann Carless has been located at the Speyer site since 1965. The hydrogenation unit is the largest investment in the company's recent history. Around 120 of the 500 employees worldwide work at the strategically important production facility. In addition to Speyer, the chemical company also operates a manufacturing site in Hamburg, as well as others in the UK, France and the USA. Haltermann Carless products are used in Life Science, Energy, Industrial and Mobility.
